1. And then my life stood still
June 2024, Friday night I was already uncertain about driving to Zwolle that I would do the upcoming Tuesday. Saturday night and night I couldn't get to sleep very well and Sunday I finally called my daughter if she wanted to come over because I wasn't feeling very well. From the moment I called my daughter everything went very fast. Phone call doctor's office, 911 and the ambulance at the door. At that moment I didn't know what was going on. I walked into the ambulance and got on the stretcher myself. Afterwards it turned out that I did everything on adrenaline, because the damage had already been done, I had a brain infarct. Once at the hospital, my anxiety began to grow and especially when I received the results of the scan. When the doctor asked me if I wanted to be resuscitated if necessary, I said I didn't have to. My daughter asked me if I knew what the doctor was asking of me, and I was able to explain to her that it had mainly to do with my fear of becoming a cash plant. Therefore, I decided, not to be resuscitated. After consulting with my daughter, I went back on my decision and I am still grateful to her for that. When I was taken to the intensive care unit, I could no longer talk, walk or move my hands properly. I don't remember much about the week and a half I spent in the hospital.
